about

"Parachute Twins titled their album “Ten Years of Warmth” for reasons that are likely very similar to why Don Rickles is nicknamed “Mr. Warmth”: it's just the slightest bit disingenuous, I think. The band of brothers Wakefield, Garrett and Sean, along with drummer Steve Nowicki, are punk in the spit-lobbing, spite-fueled tradition, which is sadly in short supply in 2011. However, the bile is counterbalanced by a metric ton of hooks, establishing the Twins in a sort of disarming sub-genre; let's call it cruel pop. The record is in many senses a throwback to the time when backing tracks were something Madonna used, not indie rock bands—it sounds like a band playing in a room, which is plenty refreshing. Which isn't to say that there's no nuance: the band is continually keeping an ear out for pockets where hoarse-throated harmonies, octave-chord leads, or the (very) occasional keyboard lead could go. The sha-la-la handclaps on “I Love Myself” and tense cello on “All the Grief” go shoulder-to-shoulder with ample feedback and rocksteady drums. It's not reinventing the wheel, but it's a solid rock record, and when was the last time you heard one of those?" - J. Tobias

A Message from the Author:
This album is everything we wanted it to be. We hope you enjoy listening to it half as much as we enjoyed making it. And now it's on to the next one. - GTW
